Day 5:

Well, Days 3 & 4 were spent cruising to Grenada with our first formal evening being the Captain’s Reception in the “Queen’s Room” and Black Tie Dinner followed by an evening show by a violinist. Today was our first port, and our kayaking shore excursion in a pretty bay area. Much to Eileen’s relief, our kayak did not go in circles but in a relatively straight line! Les and Ed had a small water leak and had to beach and drain before completing the journey, but otherwise a lot of fun. It was a beautiful, sunny day with temperatures in the low eighties so we couldn’t have asked for a better day. The coral reefs have been seriously damaged by the hurricane that hit Grenada, and they have added to the viewing with statues underwater. The Captain of the QM2 said that he had been sailing in these waters for several weeks and he thought this was the best day of all. So now it’s only 3200 nautical miles to Rio!
