Day 10:
Thursday was spent touring Rio de Janeiro on a cloudy day that ended with showers as we returned to the ship; and then clearing for our sail out of the harbor around midnight (that’s right, children and grandchildren – we stayed up past midnight!). But we all agreed that the overcast and drizzle was better than the 120 degrees they said they had a few days ago!!! Thought we would share some of the scenes of the day – our tour included a visit to the huge, concrete, open-air cathedral of San Sebastian, a cable car ride to the top of Sugar Loaf mountain and views of Rio, a drive along Copacabana Beach (Ed got the cap) and Ipanema Beach, a Brazilian barbeque, the cog railway ride up to the top of Mt. Corcovado to see Christ the Redeemer statue, and views of the city along with a history lesson. Back at the ship we had a very colorful (and brief) Brazilian show, dinner and then on deck to watch the city as we left. Since it had cleared off the Christ statue dominated the skyline the whole time we were moving through the port and out to sea. Today is another beautiful, sunny day at sea!

Wow, 120 degrees would have been miserable. Cloudy days are good and since the rain waited til you got back to the ship even better. The green in the scenery certainly makes the pictures bright anyway!
Sounds pretty amazing! I don't know 120 degree weather doesn't sound so bad compared to the 4 degree weather we are having!!! Can't wait to hear what's on the agenda for your next adventures!
Fun talking to you today! I'll call Howard.
Hi, finally figured out how to leave a comment--this is different from wordpress! The pictures are gorgeous!! Our first neighbors were from Rio and they used to show us pictures & share food & music from their part of the world.
Enjoy the summer weather--we had about 6" of snow last week! The kids got 2 snow days out of it (which we have to make up on Saturdays!) But, it was lovely to see snow again...it's been a couple of years!
We are all doing well--we went ahead and got "Piper." She is sweet and loves to be held. Now if the cat will just forgive us. LoL!
